What does a youth with a disability need to “make it”? The diverse and complex needs of today’s youth cannot be met by any one professional, school district, government program, or private organization acting alone. The successful transition of all youth, including those with disabilities, to adulthood and a productive, independent, self-sufficient life demands coordination and collaboration across systems and across agencies and demands that youth service professionals have the support and resources that they need to help their participants make the right choices at the right times based off the right information. This webinar will describe how the Guideposts for Success, developed by the National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Youth) can be used to help youth service professionals navigate this complicated work, including the added supports that may be needed for youth with disabilities. The Guideposts are a comprehensive framework that identifies what all youth need to “make it” and can be used as a tool to determine what resources are available to assist youth make the jump from school to careers.
