Description: Presented by
Ann Merrifield

“So I’m a few minutes late for work – what’s the big deal?” “Why are my younger employees constantly texting at work?” “Why do I seem to have such trouble getting along with him/her?” The “generation gap” should be given special attention in the workplace of today. Generational cohorts are members of a generation who are linked through shared life experiences in their formative years. For example, the Matures had World War II. The Boomers had the assassination of JFK. The Generation Xers had the Challenger accident and the Millenials had the Oklahoma City bombing. But cohorts aren’t just shaped by one common life experience. They’re also influenced by a host of events, that over time, shape their collective values and attitude and present challenges in communication. This workshop will present the influencers of the different generational cohorts, discuss differences in communication styles, and identify tools and techniques to meet these challenges in the workplace.
