development in your state or region with workforce professionals across
the country? Dynamic Works is sponsoring our first annual Accelerated
Practices Retreat and we want to engage participation from you!
Accelerated
Practices Retreat
September 24, 2004
The Rosen Plaza Hotel, Orlando, FL
Rather than having
attendees just hear or read about best practices, this event will
create a nationwide community of practice to assist organizations
who wish to replicate best practices in their area. Accelerated
Practices submissions not only outline the practice but include the
return on investment, lessons learned,
an implementation plan, and a staff member who has agreed
to act as an online mentor to assist those who wish
to replicate these practices in their organization.
This one day retreat
will highlight case studies of the top Accelerated Practices in our
profession with a business focus on critical workforce investment
and development issues. Finalists will be selected by a team of national
workforce experts and will be presenting the top ten winning nominations
throughout the retreat. One finalist and one runner up will be eligible
to receive significant cash and training awards.
Participation
will ensure you will have an excellent opportunity to:
>>
Share innovative and proven workforce programs from your state or
region
>>
Identify
Accelerated Practices upon which to model initiatives and programs
>>
Network
by building a community of practice with others in your expertise
field

beta member
highlight - Kathy Shirey
When I was offered
the job as a CareerLink Specialist last May, I was told that I would
have to complete the Dynamic Works certification in order to pass
my probation for the job. Undaunted, I accepted the challenge and
joined Alle-Kiski CareerLink, one of Pennsylvania's 90 comprehensive
one-stop centers. Dynamic Works gave me a much-needed overview of
what had been happening and, more importantly, what should be happening,
in a one-stop system.
I found the information
provided in the courses to be interesting and relevant - and I wanted
more! I completed several more courses, which allowed me to take the
National Tier 1 certification exam. Now, the bug had really bitten!
Our Dynamic Works coordinator saw that I found the information valuable,
and she asked if I might be interested in the Beta Member program.
I went to the website and read some past issues of the newsletter
to find out more. I read about how I could preview the courses for
Tier 2 and 3; I was excited and I called right away. Bill Herrmann
welcomed me to the team, and I wasted no time starting on the Tier
2 classes.
Unfortunately,
life has been busy as I am also completing my MBA in the evenings.
It has taken me quite a while, but I'll soon finish Tier 2. The education
I've picked up through the Dynamic Works training courses is the best
job-relevant training I have had! Being a beta member is fun as well.
I used to just read the material, now I really look at the content
of the material (and watch for proofing errors too!). Because I see
courses that my co-workers don't, I recommend other courses to my
colleagues when I see a course that they might like.
I plan to complete
the Tier 2 certification exam soon, and then off to Tier 3! But when
I saw the list of courses that are being developed dealing more with
employer customers, I can see I'll be busy with Dynamic Works courses
for a long time to come!
