Sharon Calvin Joins the DWI Team
Sharon Calvin joined Dynamic Works in September as an instructional designer. She spent more than eleven years developing creative e-Learning and instructor-led training for various industries. Before changing her career to learning development, Sharon had extensive marketing, sales, and product management experience. She has a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in design from the University of Kansas, undergraduate and graduate hours in Psychology, and is a member of the American Society for Training & Development.

New Network for Center Managers Established
First Center Manager Networking E-vent
Dynamic Works recently held its first Center Manager Networking E-vent to help create an online community for workforce development Center Managers. The new community provides a platform for workforce system updates, sharing best practices, asking questions of peers and sharing information and practices that will help managers perform at a higher level. This community provides you with access to a network of peers from across the country.
The community also has access to Dynamic Works’ Best Practices Archive, which is a repository of best practices and other important documents collected from across the country. Additional networking events will be held each quarter and an online blog has been created that allows participants the ability to ask questions, post answers and support each other in this rapidly changing workforce environment.

US Senate Passes Economic Stimulus Package
Paves Way for Tough Conference Committee With House of Representatives
As with Monday's critical vote to limit debate, three moderate Republican Senators (Senator Specter, Senator Collins, and Senator Snowe) voted with the Senate's 56 Democrats and 2 Independents to pass the legislation.
House and Senate negotiators are expected to quickly convene a conference committee to begin resolving differences between the House and Senate versions. For Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs, the Senate is proposing $3.15 billion and the House is recommending $3.95 billion.
Once completed, the conference committee agreement will be submitted to each respective chamber for a final vote. After the House and Senate pass the conference committee legislation, it will be presented to President Obama for his review and signature. President Obama's goal is to have the legislation signed into law by President's Day, which is Monday, February 16, 2009.

Dynamic Works Announces a New Training Partnership!
Welcome to the State of Missouri...
Dynamic Works Institute is pleased to announce a three year agreement with Missouri’s Department of Economic Development, Division of Workforce Development (DWD) for the skills growth and professional certification of their workforce staff. This creative partnership reflects the state’s commitment to further elevate the knowledge and skills of its workforce professionals. Additionally, this partnership reflects the growing interest by states and regions to follow the encouragement from the USDOL to use technology-based training as ”a powerful tool to expand the geographical reach of training”.
This agreement is similar to other statewide partnerships that Dynamic Works holds with Florida and Virginia. It provides DWD’s staff of 600 unlimited access to the national training and certification programs of Dynamic Works. The online certification programs are competency based, nationally recognized and fulfill the education requirements for the credentials of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP). DWD staff will have the ability to create ongoing individual training plans that fit into a lifelong learning philosophy.
Dynamic Works looks forward to working with the Missouri workforce professionals in this exciting initiative launched at their fall - 08 conference. The commitment to training subscription purchases by states and regions is an economical and effective means to support our industry's high performance and reflects the growing recognition of the value of trained and certified workforce professional staff.
